We build Wheels to order – according to the specifications of the selected components in the configurator when placing an order. The process begins with selecting a configurable product based on the rim model. In the configurator, wheelset components are chosen: hubs, spokes, nipples, as well as optionally tires, Tubes, or the preferred tire install method, and also optional accessories such as: valves, cassettes, brake rotors, tapes, and rim tapes. Hello, I weigh 85 kg and my bike is 13.5 kg. I need good alloy Wheels with an internal width of 30mm. The Wheels will be for an all-mountain bike. I am considering DT XM 481 rims and 350 hubs. After adding my weight to the weight of the gear and equipment, there is approximately 10 kg of reserve remaining regarding the weight limit for these rims. 1. Is this sufficient? 2. These rims have ASTM 4. Is this rating given for the weight limit? Meaning, if someone is below the rim's weight limit, will the rims be able to withstand more? 3. Or would it be better to use 511 rims? 4. And for spokes, D-Light or Race? Which ones are lighter and which are stronger? Regards, Kamil 😎

A The DT XM 481 rim model with DT 350 hubs is one of the best specifications we can recommend for the described purpose. A strong rim and high-quality DT Swiss craftsmanship make it an excellent choice for all-mountain. The ASTM 4 classification refers to the anticipated durability of the rims and Wheels, and a 10 kg reserve above the limit is sufficient. Sapim D-Light spokes are lighter, while Race are stronger. We recommend the XM 481 DT 350 Straightpull with Sapim Race spokes + brass nipples (more resistant to varied conditions). This specification provides strong Wheels, sufficient for the described load while maintaining a relatively low Wheel weight.

Hello, I am considering purchasing these Wheels. I am looking for a wide 30 mm rim, although I primarily ride cross country with many roots on descents and ascents. Unfortunately, carbon is not within my budget. Will these rims not be too cumbersome, meaning will the weight-to-width trade-off still be beneficial for my riding style? Regards

A If you are looking for a rim with an internal width of approximately 30 mm, the DT XM 481 is one of the highest quality alloy rims on the market. If these are intended to be training and racing Wheels, we recommend a specification with DT 350 hubs + Sapim D-Light spokes and brass nipples (brass are more resistant to atmospheric conditions). The weight of such a set is relatively low for this width. Alternatively, if you prioritize lower weight, the ZTR ARCH MK4 model with the same specification (28 mm internal width) would be a good solution.
