Your questions and our answers

Hello, I have 85kg own you and 13,5kg bike, I need good alloy wheels with internal width of 30mm. Wheels will be for an all mountain bike. I'm considering dt xm 481 and hubs 350.After adding my weight to the weight of the goods and equipment, Wheel 10kg of stock is left when it comes to the weight limit for these rims. 1.Is this enough ? 2.These rims have astm 4, this is given for the weight which is the limit ? That is, if someone is below the weight limit for the rims, it is as if the rims will be able to withstand more ? 3.Or is it better to give 511 rims ? 4.And d-light or race spokes ? Which one is lighter and which one is mozier ? Greetings Kamil 😎

A DT XM 481 together with DT 350 hubs is one of the best specifications we can recommend for the described purpose. Strong rim and high quality workmanship DT Swiss - a very good choice for all-mountain. ASTM 4 classification refers to the intended strength of the rim and wheels, 10 kg of stock over the limit is sufficient. Sapim D-Light spokes are lighter, while Race spokes are stronger. We recommend XM 481 DT 350 Straightpull with Sapim Race spokes + brass nipples (more resistant to varying conditions). This specification provides strong Wheels, sufficient under the described load while keeping the wheels relatively lightweight.
  2. Hello I'm considering buying these wheels , I care about a wide 30 mm rim, although I ride mainly cross country with a lot of roots on descents and climbs. Carbon does not fit into the budget unfortunately. Will these rims not be too clunky ie will the profit and loss calculus of weight to width further benefit me with such riding ? Greetings

A If you care about the rim about 30 mm inside, then DT XM 481 is one of the best quality alloy rims on the market. If these are to be training/racing Wheels , then we recommend specification on DT 350 hubs + Sapim D-Light spokes and brass nipples (brass ones are more weather resistant). The weight of such a set is relatively low for this width. Alternatively, if you care about a lower weight, the ZTR ARCH MK4 model in the same specification (28 mm inside) would be a good option.
