Robust, reliable and versatile kit created for gravel bikes and CX, also applicable to MTB. One of the biggest advantages of the R500 is their durability and weight limit of up to 130kg. The rims work great with the tubeless system, but they can also be used with a standard tube.

Hi. Under a 40mm -50mm wide tire will a r500 or r540 rim be better ? Where will it fit better ?
  1. Q Hi. Under a 40mm -50mm wide tire will a r500 or r540 rim be better ? Where will be better...... see the whole
A Range up to 50 mm is already a wide gravel tire. Tires with a width of about 40 mm are still suitable for the DT R 500 rim, but wider tires of about 45 - 50 mm, will definitely work better on the wider DT G 540 rim (24 mm internal width).
  2. Good day, I am interested in DT Swiss R 500 Classic wheels on Novatec D791/D792 Centerlock hubs. However, I own a bike with a shimano 8-speed drivetrain. Will this freehub body fit my cassette? I would like to know if it is possible to change the axle in these hubs? From qr to a rigid axle? I currently have a bike with quick release and if I replace the bike, I would still like to use these wheels. Greetings.

A We recommend choosing DT 370 or DT 350 hubs, then the possibility of conversion with adapters is possible, so as to use wheels with QR axles (quick release), and in the future change to rigid axles 12x100 12x142, please also add this information in the comment to the order. You will receive adapters for rigid axles together with the wheels. freehub body Shimano MTB 9/10/11s is compatible with Shimano 8s cassettes. This means that you can also mount an 8s cassette on a drum that supports 9/10/11s cassettes, you will only need a spacer under the 8s cassette.
  4. Good day, I would like to put such wheels on the Marin Four Corners, which I use for trips with panniers. Me + panniers = heavy weight, but I will still be within the weight limit. I have 2 questions for the wheel configuration: - what spokes do you recommend for a gravel bike that will be ridden with a heavy load, - what is the difference between DT Swiss 370 6 bolt Ratchet LN 18T hub and Novatec D791/D792 6 bolt? Is it about better materials, weight? For me the most important thing is a good Sealant hub, and negligible difference of a few grams with such a tank.

A For the described purpose, high reliability and durability of the set is crucial. We recommend hubs DT Swiss, which are very well sealed and operate with a reliable ratchet system. Regarding the choice of spokes for the described purpose, Sapim Race (durable) combined with brass rivets (you can choose in the configurator), which are stronger than the slightly lighter aluminum ones, will work best.
