Product information

We build Wheels to order – according to the specifications of the selected components in the configurator when placing an order. The process begins with selecting a configurable product based on the rim model. In the configurator, wheelset components are chosen: hubs, spokes, nipples, as well as optionally tires, Tubes, or the preferred tire install method, and also optional accessories such as: valves, cassettes, brake rotors, tapes, and rim tapes. Below, we present commercial information regarding the manufacturers of components from brands available in our configurator.

    Why are Wheels not available Wheels RR481 rims? Different variants are available for other widths (e.g., R470 or RR521 for 20 mm, or G540 or GR531 for 24 mm). Why is there this gap in the offer? Is it possible to order such a set, 350/370 + RR481?

    A We do not offer RR 481 rims in our regular range due to the very small difference in weight compared to R 500 (approx. 10 g) and the significantly higher price. R 500 rims are combined on an insert and we fully recommend them — they are very good rims with an internal width of 22 mm in terms of weight, price, and durability. If you are interested in RR 481, please send us a message with the exact specifications of the wheels tolemonbike and we will prepare a quote.

    A The SRAM PG-1130 11-42 cassette is mounted on a Shimano 9/10/11s freehub body. This is the default option in the configurator.

    A A range up to 50 mm is already considered a wide gravel tire. Tires around 40 mm wide are still suitable for DT R 500 rims, but wider tires, approximately 45 - 50 mm, will definitely seat better on the wider DT G 540 rim (24 mm internal width).
    4. Hello, I am interested in DT Swiss R 500 Classic Wheels with Novatec D791/D792 Centerlock hubs. However, I own a bike with an 8-speed Shimano drivetrain. Will this freehub body fit my cassette? I would like to know if it's possible to change the axles on these hubs, from QR to thru-axle? I currently have a bike with quick releases, and if I change bikes, I would still like to use these Wheels. Regards.

    A We recommend choosing DT 370 or DT 350 hubs, as this allows for conversion using adapters, enabling the use of Wheels with QR axles (quick releases) and future upgrades to 12x100 12x142 thru-axles. Please also add this information to the order comments. You will receive the thru-axle adapters along with the Wheels. The Shimano MTB 9/10/11s freehub body is compatible with Shimano 8s cassettes. This means that an 8s cassette can also be mounted on a freehub body that supports 9/10/11s cassettes; only a spacer for the 8s cassette will be required.
    5. Hello, I would like to install these Wheels on my Marin Four Corners, which I use for touring with panniers. Me + panniers equals a heavy load, but I will still be within the weight limit. I have two questions regarding the wheel configuration: - which spokes do you recommend for a gravel bike that will be ridden with a heavy load, - what is the difference between the DT Swiss 370 6 bolt Ratchet LN 18T hub and the Novatec D791/D792 6 bolt hub? Is it about better materials or weight? For me, the most important aspect is good hub Sealant, as a few grams difference is negligible for such a heavy-duty setup.

    A For the described application, high reliability and durability of the set are crucial. We recommend DT Swiss hubs, which are very well sealed and operate based on a reliable ratchet system. Regarding spoke selection for the described application, Sapim Race (durable) combined with brass nipples (selectable in the configurator) will perform best, as they are stronger than the slightly lighter alloy ones.
