Your questions and our answers

Hello, I have a few questions regarding this set: What is the difference between the two available spoke types? Is the micro spline freehub body available in one version, or are there different shapes and sizes? Will an internal width of 25mm be optimal for 50mm tires, or would a wider rim be better? Is it possible to replace the engagement rings in the Ratchet LN system with those having a higher number of teeth? Are the rims suitable for tubeless setup? Generally, I'm looking for a durable replacement for the wheels from an Esker 5.0 for light off-road riding, 50% asphalt, 50% off-road.

A Sapim Race spokes are a slightly heavier, but very durable option. Their use makes sense if the wheels are intended for very challenging terrain, but for gravel, the lighter Sapim D-Light model is sufficient. The Microspline freehub body supports selected Shimano 12-speed MTB cassettes. It is available in only one version, but it will not be suitable for the Kross Esker 5.0 bicycle – this model uses a 10s cassette – on a standard Shimano 11/12s freehub body (with a spacer for 10s) – this variant should be selected in the configurator. A rim with an internal width of 25 mm – according to DT Swiss recommendations – works best with 32–50 mm tires. This is a typical range for gravel, providing good stability and proper tire performance. The Ratchet engagement mechanism in DT 370 hubs comes in an 18T version. This solution has been used by DT Swiss for years – proven, reliable, and sufficient. In summary: this wheelset is an appropriate and noticeable upgrade for the Kross Esker 5.0 – an upgrade that will genuinely improve dynamics, reliability, and riding experience.
